A Hands-On Learning Experience for School-Aged Children
Honey bees are among the most important pollinators on our planet, responsible for helping pollinate around 70% of the crops that feed the world. That's why we're passionate about inspiring the next generation to understand, appreciate and protect these incredible insects.
Our interactive school workshops give students a unique opportunity to step into the fascinating world of beekeeping. Through engaging demonstrations and hands-on activities, children learn about the vital role bees play in our environment, how honey is produced, and what we can all do to support healthy bee populations.
Designed to be fun, educational and memorable, our workshops cater to a range of age groups, with additional topics available for older students, including bee diseases, biosecurity and the importance of protecting Australia's honey bees.
What Students Will Experience
Students begin with an engaging presentation covering:
- The life of a honey bee colony
- The importance of pollination
- Beekeeping equipment and protective clothing
- How honey is harvested and extracted
- Bee diseases and protecting our bees (older students)
Students are then divided into two groups and rotate through both activities.
🍯 Honey Extraction Experience
- Prepare honey frames for extraction
- Watch honey being extracted using our clear honey extractor
- Learn how honey goes from hive to jar
🎨 Design Your Own Honey Label
- Create a personalised label for your own honey jar
- Learn about honey packaging and branding
- Take home a unique keepsake
Every session also includes:
- A secure observation hive with live working bees
- Hands-on interaction with real beekeeping equipment
- Plenty of opportunities to ask questions
- A sample jar of raw Australian honey that students helped extract to take home

Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours
Pricing: From $480 per session (minimum charge) or $8 per child
Our workshops are suitable for primary school students and can be tailored to different age groups and learning outcomes.
